It’s all right with working conditions on board the m/v "Mekhanik Kottsov"

Representatives of the Kaliningrad Territorial Organization of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia (SUR KTO) ascertained that during their visit on board the vessel while in the Kaliningrad Commercial Port. The crew of the Mekhanik Kottsov (IMO 8904410, flag of Russia) are paid on time, and nobody of 12 Russian crew members - from Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok and Krasnodar – has any complaint.

“The crew was happy to communicate with us. Seafarers work under 4+1 contracts. Now their vessel is engaged in shipping timber from Arkhangelsk to the ports of Europe, their last port of call for unloading was Rotterdam”, -  Lyudmila Izmalkova, Chairman of the SUR KTO, said.

According to the Second Officer  it was before the introduction of the latest sanctions. While they were at the port nobody disturbed them unless necessary,  pilots were correct and friendly in their conduct. 

Though, the seafarers admitted they felt a somewhat prejudiced attitude from dockers.

Also, the crew members said that the owner, JSC Northern Shipping Company, does not plan any changes in ship calls. The crews don’t await any changes in their work either.

During the meeting the  representatives of the Union handed over to the crew members the magazines "Maritime Union’s Herald" telling about the SUR  activity,  calendars and T-shirts with trade union’ symbols.
