According
to the information, today the Panama-flagged Pantelena (IMO:9321469),
disappeared from the radar screen, were found and sent into Owendo, Gabon. All
members of crew, including Georgians and two Russians, are in good health. They
are out of danger.
It
should be reminded that
on August 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reported that
the communication with the oil-laden
tanker was lost in the Gulf of Guinea.
At the time the last communication from
the ship was received in a few kilometres from Gabon. According to the regional
naval forces, the ship's tracking
beacons were switched off, definitely pointing to the pirate hijacking.
Today a
reliable source of the Seafarers' Union of Russia has reported
an updated information, particularly
tanker Pantelena already has been
berthed in the port of Gabon. The source didn't prefer to
open the information what happened on
the shipboard. The most important is that the crew in safety. It is still unknown whether the seafarers continue the voyage or to be
repatriated.
