The ITF Inspectorate in Russia has again resolved the problem of repatriation. This time, the conflict almost broke out on board the vessel Front Ocelot (IMO 9726580, flag of the Marshall Islands). Upon leaving the port of Primorsk, a Russian crewmember asked the ITF to help for discharging due to the completion of the contract of employment.
The absurdity of his situation was that it was easiest way to sign off a Russian citizen in a Russian port, but despite the fact that there were only 12 days left before the completion of the contract, the shipowner did not give any information about the repatriation. Since the seafarer contacted the ITF too late and there was no time to resolve the issue in Russia, the inspectorate in France joined the case as the tanker headed for the port of Fos. While the transition, the ITF and the company managed to agree on the arranging the discharging of the seafarer.
