This is the opinion of the graduate of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, navigation officer Maxim Isaev. Recently, he came to the SUR Baltic Territorial Organization on business and told a little about himself and his profession. Maxim works on board the ferry Sixtine. He admits that he is completely with this job. «Every time I come to believe that I connected my life with the sea for a reason. After all, even in the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, I have a job that gives me the opportunity to earn and provide for my family». Everyday working life on board the Sixtine, as on any other vessel, is different, but working on the ferry has its own nuances and peculiarities. One of the advantages is relatively short voyages, which allows seafarers to spend more time on shore with their relatives and friends. While on board Maxim Isaev deal with indispensable «assistants», such as a cherry picker or a hydraulic lifting platform which is useful in conditions of limited space. «It is used for equipment maintenance. The decks on the ferry are very high so a stepladder will not help, but cherry picker will cope», - explains the seafarer. The BTO SUR believes that university graduates and seafarers who are looking for work should definitely take a closer look at ferries. In particular, Maxim Isaev got a job on Sixtine through St. Petersburg’ s crewing agency Baltcrewing (Baltcrewing Ltd.)
